"That dude's fuckin' crazy" -Muska
"This guy's just destroying this place right now. No one's going to be able to come here and skate it again." -Dyrdek
"Tom Penny smokes so much the outside world doesn't matter to him. Clyde wants everyone to know that Tom has a fucked up grill... just call him Cap'n Crunch." - Dimitry
Anytime someone just blows up from out of nowhere and gives the entire world a great big dummy smack before promptly disappearing into thin air... that's how legends are born.
Part of me wishes Tom would've never came back... but at the same time, I'm so glad he did.
*quick note: Bobshirt has Penny's classic, beyond ridiculous Etnies part as well as another ill Flip commercial (among other assorted goodies) that I've been trying to link to in this post for the last hour and have failed at miserably... so go over there and give it a whirl. And a special thanks to Seb over at A Visual Sound for hooking me up with that Sugar cover. Merci beaucoup, homie.
Last of these huge posts for a while. Thanks for all the support.

speechless...
Dope post, made me proud to be a Brit. Please!!!!!!Post #101 has to be the mighty 101 team profile.
such a good post
! I remember I had the "Forever Tom" TSA ad on my wall, and someone was like "why is there a picture of a dude on your wall" and I said "'cause it's Tom Penny" and they thought I was weird.
On Thomas Steven Louis Penny:
Tom Penny was incredible because long after he had left the states, his Flip "Cheech and Chong" board was still selling in significant numbers. My boy Jim used to buy that board everytime he ordered from CCS.
When I was living in Nice, France in 2003, I remember hearing about Penny sightings all along the Riviera. I never ran into the dude, but perhaps it was better that way.
incredible post man!
YES YES YES! Perfect post. Also post 101 has to be about 101
Switch frontside flip down the carlsbad in what seemed like weeks after Jeremy Wray did it regular. I think that solidified him as a legend for me. And how about poor Marcovich. His kickflip was still even recent at the time.
yeah, the switch frontside flip was what got me, too. looked all over the place for that but looks like it fell victim to my wall.
the worse victim of that gap had to be dyrdek who thought he was getting the cover when he switch ollied it... evidently markovich kickflipped it an hour later.
I always wanted to steal that eS poster of Penny catching a 360 flip on a mini (same one as that TSA ad, can't remember?) from my local skateshop. I guess I could have asked them for it.
great post for 100.
That 411 Flip team profile with that Penny line was sick. And in another early 411 in the intro, he did a kickflip bs tail on a down ledge over a pyramid. Totally sick. Both of which don't appear to be anywhere on the web but were there earlier in the year. There's something special and effortless about the way he looks on a board for sure.
alright party people, blogger's acting kinda crazy and has deleted some comments off of here (mine included)... sorry fellas.
test. strange things are afoot on comment page. sorry y'all. shit's disappearing, maybe too large a post?
What happened to my Penny post?
ok im backdating a bit here, but does anyone knom the real reasons for his drop off and us exile?
i mean, i know he was on the hammer, but ive heard rumors he owed gangsters money (ok i know that sounds like bs) for drugs or whatever...
anyone??
Was it a Visa thing? Banned from the USA?
Funny story. I used to be the TM for Experience Skateboards and Pure Wheels. Nothing to write home about. But one time the owner (this cat named Roger Davis) told me he wanted to sponsor a European rider. Something to do with the distributor there or something and kinda getting in good with them. Anyways, Roger tells me that the distributor had two people in mind. One was Simon Evans and the other was some kid named Tom Penny. I told Roger that my pick was Simon Evans cause he was a friend of mine and I knew he was a good skater. I'm sure most of you guys think I'm an idiot for not picking Tom Penny, but I had no idea who he was and no one outside of the U.K. probably did either. So I have no regrets about that decision cause Simon was my friend and he was a damn good skater. But it would've been interesting to see what would've happened if we did put Tom Penny on instead of Simon. Never met the guy, but he obviously did okay for himself. Simon's an amazing artist and has had art shows all over the world so he did okay too.
