chrome ball incident #685: aladdin sane

"The insane, on occasion, are not without their charms." -K. Vonnegut

No offense to yesterdays's post... but how Tom Penny didn't get SOTY 1995 is beyond me.

And this seems like probably the most appropriate time to wish eS a fond farewell. Thanks guys.

Chrome Ball will back on Thursday.

chrome ball incident #211: space oddity

Tom from Oxford... he's living the good life.

Dude just made everything look too easy. Maybe it was.

chrome ball incident #160: inspiration information

Tried a little something different today and went back to the roots of six absolute pioneers. Funny seeing these instantly-recognizable icons on some Lil' Archie-type steez, looking so fresh-faced and new on the scene ... grouped together with similar young upstarts who's careers didn't quite achieve the same notoriety.

Its the small details and little idiosyncrasies, often revealing a different side of these legendary pros, that make looking back on these old Check-Outs definitely worth the time.

chrome ball incident #100: kid a

"That dude's fuckin' crazy" -Muska

"This guy's just destroying this place right now. No one's going to be able to come here and skate it again." -Dyrdek

"Tom Penny smokes so much the outside world doesn't matter to him. Clyde wants everyone to know that Tom has a fucked up grill... just call him Cap'n Crunch." - Dimitry

Anytime someone just blows up from out of nowhere and gives the entire world a great big dummy smack before promptly disappearing into thin air... that's how legends are born.

Part of me wishes Tom would've never came back... but at the same time, I'm so glad he did.

*quick note: Bobshirt has Penny's classic, beyond ridiculous Etnies part as well as another ill Flip commercial (among other assorted goodies) that I've been trying to link to in this post for the last hour and have failed at miserably... so go over there and give it a whirl. And a special thanks to Seb over at A Visual Sound for hooking me up with that Sugar cover. Merci beaucoup, homie.

Last of these huge posts for a while. Thanks for all the support.
