chrome ball incident #630: club fade

figured I'd keep the SHUT vibe going tonight with a little Mike Kepper.

One of the East Coast's finest, this dude was a straight-up destroyer. His future looked bright when he got on H-Street but he never really seemed to get the shine he deserved over there. Not sure what happened to him after a quick stop on the Think squad but word is he's doing tattoos in Nashville these days.

Thanks to Larry Ransom for uploading that Kepper Think vid.

BONUS POST: Beyond influential NYC O.G. with the U.K. slant, Jeremy Henderson.

That first Kepper photo was one of those I just stared at as a kid. I wanted to be everything in that photo! Have not seen it since I was 12, rad to see it again.

Nice post. It makes me feel bad about pointing out that you can now buy Zoo York shirts in J.C. Penney's.

Crazy. One of those dudes you would only see glimpses of in mags but never got a video part from.. not in my neck of the woods.

And he got on H-Street when they were over saturated... seemed like they had over a 100 pros and ams. I don't remember him going pro for H-Street. Guess I didn't read that ad very carefully back in 91! Never saw his model.

front board on that car with the white suede/black sole caballero vans. great shot, sick shoe.

Used to skate with the original Shut crew every Thursday at the Eatontown Roller Rink in NJ back in like '88. Mike, Felix, Coco, Dune, Sheff occasionally....just sick - still just local ams. These guys were doing some stuff that the W.Coast pro's weren't even thinking about yet.

I remember Mike did flatground ollie Japan grabs, backside 180 over whatever - jump ramps, garbage cans - full tweak. Still to this day, one of the best things I've ever seen - and no one's done them like that since.

Great post - you out do yourself each time.

Looks like I'll have to dig out my Think video and upload Kepper's part to go with this post.

Thanks for adding the Jeremy Henderson bits. That guy is like the Obie Wan of NY skating. Massive
