chrome ball incident #331: into the sun

underrated ripper who still managed to fly under the radar despite riding for some of the decade's better teams.

not sure where dude is now... last time i saw him was embarassingly-enough as the "coach" on an episode of mtv's made several years back.

kinda interview-heavy so far this week so i decided to save mr. gayle's big brother opus for another time.

He was the man. I remember some interview where he was talking about how he wrecked his brand new car.

Also, forgot all about Color. So many companies came and went and that period

Dude, ya killing it again. Another sick post, this guy was super smooth. Seen skate a few times in England - he ripped. WTF he's now a cagefighter!! Lol wonder if he does switch stance kicks to the head.

seemed to drift away into obscurity, like Neal Mims, when he quit DC for Axion and wound up later after City Stars on Monkey Stix and Right Guard. Shame, he was rad.

I vaguely remember him saying that he'd retire as a pro once he backside flipped Carlsbad, or maybe that was another case of Big Brother being BB...

I was at that Vancouver contest the first photo was taken at- the flip to fakie over the gap.

I also saw one of the most impressive displays of skateboarding I've ever seen in person. Ed Templeton showed up for practice, and did a frontside ollie from one quarterpipe to frontside grind on the other, came down and did a frontside Smith across the bench, then did an alley-oop heelflip to fakie over the hip... all at like, Mach speed. After the New Deal era, I wasn't really a fan of Templeton- the slicked-back hair, weird steeze, creepy photos (although I respect that it's his thing; whatever floats your boat). But that day in Vancouver, I thought, "Damn, this guy is good."

Dude's video parts were always sick. Look no further than the Color video OR his little snippet in 20 Shot Sequence. His part in Prime's "Five" was quite good too.

People on World always had the illest names, don't you think?

I was just reading something about Caine Gayle at carbonite. He is a muay thai fighter now and I also found this old interview. It's funny... in that interview he talks about putting companies he's rode for out of business (777, Colour, Prime, Plan B) and now we can add City Stars and Axion to his list LOL

Can't believe you're holding back that BB interview. So good!

I saw Caine Gayle at many Slam City jams over the years and he's incredibly consistent. Definitely surprised me to see him absolutely killing it while Gino was sucking on a ledge. I was crushed!

That MTV Made was really ... lame.

Caine rips. He is involved in training MMA fighters Muay Thai techniques and cardio. I'm working on a where are you now type interview with him.
