#255: the chrome ball is a cajun-like style

louisiana renaissance man, duane pitre.

budge. one of my all-time favorite video parts. charlotte hornets represent!

and if burton won't cut us all a break and re-release the early alien joints on dvd, they could at least do me a favor and reissue duane's "olives" board... pretty please.

getting increasingly surreal around here... i sincerely appreciate all the support, for real.

shout outs to june cate, steve ortega, frank fp, mike christie, given skateboards and everybody else for checking out chrome ball. gracias.

Trippy. He played at my friend's gallery/DJ nite at Civilian Arts here in Washington DC.

It's always so weird to hear about/meet people whose pictures you used to see in magazines, isn't it?

poindexter says:

for the record, that video grab sequence was mislabeled; nollie f/s 360 kickflip, not nollie f/s kickflip spinout.

he has the best part in timecode...

My very first board was a Duane Pitre "three-headed cat." Still have it too.

The seq. is actually a: nollie cab flip.

Duane is rad, I really like the layout for the interview as well.

right on. Took a while to get Pitre up on cbi. So stoked. I can't even count how many times I watched Dyrdek and Pitre in Footage and Memory Screen. Huge impact on the way I skate.

I remember talking to, at the time, a sponsored am, about the pro mini-ramp contest in Langley, BC back in the early 90's. I was so psyched on Dyrdek and Pitre at the time. The sponsored am, who did turn pro in the mid 90's, said "Seriously? Saw (one or two of, can't remember exactly) those dudes at the Langley contest. Nothing really special." Pretty bummed. My world kind of came crumbling down a bit. lol

A re-release of the olive graphic would be so on point.

I should also add, I remember that bs smith picture so well. I had to rock a lace up ankle brace for many years in the early 90's.

word up, k. how was duane doing this thing live?

smorales, duane's my man and he totally killed it in memory screen.... but for me, timecode belongs to lennie... edging out kalis by 1 cornrow.

damn, beats. forgot all about that. thanks for the comment, bro.

yeah, keith has actually been wanting a duane post for a minute but i didn't think i had enough. and i think we talked about this before but i had the pleasure of seeing rob skate several times back in the day due to my location growing up... in demo and non-demo situations. dude was super-good but was one of those that would try something insanely difficult for two hours straight, though often making it.

Hey thanks for putting this up this is sick! I skate with Duane a couple times a month at our friends private indoor ramp.. he's always charging those kickflip back lips. He's a chill dude, but I haven't spent too much time with him besides just skating.
