#864: twice as bright, twice as fast

"That's that crazy, surburban white-boy shit!"

Some Habitat-era goodies from one of Jersey's more perplexing headaches, Mr. Brian Wenning.

Dude's teched-out pop-out represented a distinct paradigm-shift in ledge skating throughout the early to mid-00's...

then he basically lost his mind.

Chops,

The Photosynthesis through Mosaic eras of skating appeal to me so much. I remember buying Mosaic on DVD from Hardware City skatepark in New Britain, CT in the winter and just being so hyped on it. Completely unlike most videos out at the time. The board graphics and ads were innovative, kinda refined and mysterious and honestly watching that video was one of the main reasons I applied to school in Philly (ended up elsewhere). Also, I just got back from a Portland/Seattle trip, and was fortunate enough to skate Burnside at 7:45 am, had the place to myself. It was amazing. Enjoy that shit! I'll end the ramble here, but thanks for this post.

I didn't know there was this much unused Wenning fodder. Dude was incredible back in the Alien and Habitat days.

Intro to that interview seems odd... I never knew Biebel and Wenning were tight like that.

wenning made me proud to be from a small jersey town and riding a skateboard, plain and simple. it was so reassuring to have such a legend and tech destroyer come from my area.

@Keith - I always thought the Biebel/Wenning friendship seemed weird, but they had a semi-shared part in a transworld video...maybe "free your mind?"

It was drugs. Wenning talks about it in an interview at Jenkem Mag.

On another note, I always thought of his Photosynthesis part as the little brother to Guy's part in Mouse. I quite skating for like three years, moved into the woods and grew dreads, and watched that video in my friends cabin. First video i'd seen in years, and never heard of Wenning. It blew my fucking mind and i got right back into skating for many years...

I really wish he would regain his mind and skate like the above again.
