#806: unidentified flying ace

"If you make it, you make it. If you don't, you eat shit. It's that simple."

Sometimes you really just want to cut the bullshit. Wade kills all.

Legendary status.

Wade rules. Someone once described him as "a hesher version of Danny Way" and I think that description is apt.

40 years old tomorrow according to the interview you posted. Happy 40th, Wade.

I always like the way that 2 handed grab looked.

What was the order of his sponsors? Dogtown to Think to Powell? Before he got on Powell, I thought he was gonna get scooped up by a Rocco company. And being on Powell at that time seemed like a weird fit.

I agree Keith. Powell was a strange sponsor for him. Think just seemed right. Just dirt dog and low key.

I always wished I could ride transition 1/100 as good as Wade. When him and Shao were on Think they were destroyers. This was at a time when tranny and ramps were just SO uncool as well.

Even though I'm a product of the early 90's (see: pressure flip goofy boy), the late 90's/early 00's really were an awesome time in skateboarding. Gear started getting more functional and people started going huge. People like Speyer, Cardiel, and Wray defined that era for me. Real Fucking Skating.

Speyer is the reason I've been wearing a uniform of dickies and a flannel for the last 18 years! And that pressure flip sequence did make my wiener tingle a lil bit, I must admit. Thanks!

Not enough people really skate like this anymore. To this day I try grinding coping as long as I possibly can because that's the way Wade did it.
