"I'm a mess. Fuck it."
I've had more than a few requests for this dude and figured I'd have some fun tonight by throwing a bit of a curveball out there.
One of the most intriguing characters I can think of... and an amazing skater to boot. Trying to summarize this guy into a tidy little paragraph like this just simply can't be done.
Saltine hustler, hammer enthusiast and all-around courageous dresser, Jim Greco.
Special thanks to Rob Sissi and Nike SB.

Hahaha, "transformer"... what a perfect title.
That Wilshire back noseblunt is classic.
"GLORIA"
Funnything about Greco and the Pissdrunx is that a lotta those guys remind me of the guys I grew up skating with. They were hessians or punks who liked drinking beer and going crazy. We used to wil' out CKY style before that video ever came out. But then the drugs crept in and we started to lose cats one by one, either to blaze or to yayo or drank. Thankfully a lot of them recovered, but most of us aren't really skating anymore. As per the Pissdrunx, some of these guys now run successful companies or have gotten their shit back. Sadly they left a really negative stamp. Sorta like how Johnny Thunders' legend influenced a whole generation of UK punkers that taking heroin and being an asshole was part of the myth. Sigh.
I wish I still had that TWS, I remember his pro spotlight being a really good read.
Is that the car wash bank Cardiel did? I didn't know Greco did it. Rad!
I killer rail style. Go fast and hit it halfway down. Hammers, after blacks etc... Nice title too.
I remember seeing this dude skate at a pro contest at Newburgh skatepark in upstate NY way back when...rumor was that Plan B wanted him at the time but he went with Birdhouse because Tony Hawk was his favorite growing up...who knows??
Thanks guys.
Thanks K. Some real good insight there.
Anon1, that one will probably be posted sooner or later.
Anon2, I also heard that same thing... though I honestly can't remember where.
fun to watch him grow sweaty and hairier as events unfolded.
i kind of forgot he was a jock early on.
still rad, g'wan with that whole "grecs' thing.
Kinda skimmed past the whole piss drunx phase in skateboarding. I know nothing about this guy except what I saw on Epicly Laterd. I guess the first time I heard the jargon mob and hammer in skateboarding were because of him.
I like how in the Epicly Laterd 3trailer, Kalis is saying "I hate the term hammer" lol Kalis rules.
Anytime anybody uses the phrase "Hammer", they should owe Greco a nickel.
Good to see some old coverage of Greco from the Birdhouse / Jeremy Klein protoge days.
Chops, Jim talked about getting on Plan B in his Thrasher interview a few years ago (the one that came out around the time Baker 3 did).
