after yesterday's rant, i decided to feature somebody that I hope everyone can agree should be on top of the list: mr. john cardiel.matt rodriguez with the q&a in a classic skateboarder interview.

another fan out story on this dude. went to sf in may with my wife and baby boy. first day see julien, gerwer and cards riding fixies chilling at one of the piers. jaw dropped.... end of story. lame. i know this dude is a nice cat. just couldn't muster the jewels to talk to him or julien. too bad.

One of the best sk8ers ever on any terrain. I wonder if he would have been into the mega ramp stuff if he hadn't gotten hurt?
I remember seeing him in a pro contest in Connecticut back in like 93, and he was trying a 540 on vert with no pads on. I think it's in some video, maybe one of the anti hero vids. He was just ripping the street obstacles up, and then he would get up on the vert ramp and bust some dope airs, then go back to the street area.
So sick, and it's such a shame he got hurt like that, and John if you ever come across this, good luck to you and best wishes. All hail Cardiel!
DIGZ. You said it right. I remember going to that contest. Cardiel was, is and will always be one of the greats. Truly balls out all the time.
DIGZ, I think the 540 you're speaking of was in Plan B's Virtual Reality. So sick.
john changed how many people rode skateboards, not just the tricks they chose, but the way they actually rode.
