Great dude, great tricks-- half flip on a street board in 1989 in Speed Wheels, f-side 540 off a jump ramp which I saw in person-- too bad his style looks so whack with those locked down tight trucks.
Skated with Jim once at a Long Island demo in 88 and once or twice in SF, at the Safeway curb in 89. Super friendly, super cool.
My posse of friends totally bit the plastic charm bracelet style from search for animal chin.
Always an inspiration.Sick boys played in my vcr until it was unrecognizable. All the sf footage made me get in my car and drive down just to catch a few wallrides. Thanks jim for the inspiration and motivation.
The mute grab on the experimental board in the Thunder ad. Sick!
Thiebaud really is awesome. All around nice guy. Dude was on some next level shit around the time he turned pro. Everyone in my town was so psyched on him.
That earthquake article was crazy. Thanks for posting more of it. You posted a pic from it earlier with TG and Jim holding onto a street sign post. That pic looks so strange because it just looks like they are holding onto it casually but there's an earthquake happening. Pretty tough to capture the gnarliness of it with a photo.
I only got to watch that skate TV clip at work with no sound... was that pre-Real?
Jim was and still is awesome. Dude has the right attitude - his interviews on the Sick Boys DVD say it all. 100% SKATEBOARDER, at any age.
He was overshadowed by some of the bigger names at the time, but then again, everyone was overshadowed by Natas and Tommy in the mid 80s. But he had his moments - I remember staring at that ad of him doing the launch-ramp-to-hurricane down the slider, thinking that was one of the raddest things ever. And that REAL ad with the pop - sick!
And let's not forget, his SMA model had one of the best graphics ever. And the fact that he used to sport the Public Enemy winter hat.
JT will get props from me until the end of time for his frontside wallride in Animal Chin, I believe it is the raddest thing in the entire video, and as you know there is a lot of shit in that video to choose from.
I think skateboarding is more than just technical ability; it's also a reflection of the person doing it. I can only speak for myself, but I get more stoked on a picture of Jim Thiebo skating a bank in 1987 than seeing a photo of a hardflip at the Maloof X-Dew Games.

Love this guy. And I know because he's involved the REAL video will be fantastic as they always are.
first real ad is some big snaps. nice, jim. funny how everybody did their shoes up back then... i mean... well... i still do. never mind.
yeah, i'm definitely backing some sort of limited edition Real and/or Anti-Hero boxset.
With Ride On and Amigos on a bonus disc, I'm sold.

Much respect to JT.

Ruler and one hell of a nice guy. Jim has been down since I met him. I hope to session with him up in OR sometime soon.

My 1st hero I got to meet in REAL life, Watsoville Bills Wheels demo, 1996? Super sick
Guy is very smart and I think he done his work in very smart way. Really appreciate his ideas.
