that back 50 in SF around the tree is such a great picture. Lenny slaughtered everything in sight in that timecode part.

I like the premonitions ad. That's great in so many ways.

There were lots of great photos of him but to be honest, I never enjoyed watching footage of him. It's the flailing arms...

Every time I watch his "Timecode" part I'm tempted to put him up there with Natas, Gonz, Jeremy Wray, whoever, as one of the greats, but I guess you just can't. Legend will have to suffice.

in response to the flailing arms comment, not everyone can have a really clean style, and in my opinion that's what made him stand out, he kind of had that, "I'm going all out" aura to his skating arms and all. It was like a mix of new skill and all heart attitude.

His style is sketchy as hell, meh. Looks like a douche, probably deserves to be in jail.

very true, peel.

keith, i know what you're saying about the arms but, at least to me, it kinda adds to just how nuts this kid actually was. so i give it the pass.

plus, alot of that shit is just too good.

anon3, just be glad he didn't rob you.

Folklore!

Not many skaters can control what there arms do. It's hard enough to focus on the trick.

Instead of "escape hell", I thought the last thing he said in the Timecode bit was "skate ill".

I counselled at a Christian skate camp in BC in '98. Ray Barbee, Shawn Mandoli, and Dave Metty were there. Lennie was there, fresh off a missionary trip to Nicaragua. Definitely the weirdest, most interesting dude I've ever met. To this day, I periodically comb the internet looking for news of him.

The guy who got him to come somehow contacted him, talked about the camp, and had a ticket waiting for him at the airport in SF, not knowing if Lennie would show or not. He gave it a 50/50 chance.

Lennie had like one extra change of clothes, skated Nike basketball shoes, and was on his last Alien board, which was beat.

I'm pretty sure Lennie had a touch of OCD in the mix with whatever other mental ailments he had...

Apparently he had just gotten married to a nurse fairly recently before flying up there. I'd look at him every day of that week and not be able to fathom that. Could not picture him doing anything normal like that.

Lennie carried a Spanish bible, and would try to heal injured campers by fervently praying for them in Spanish. The guy who brought him up there had this theory to explain it: Lennie hadn't been a Christian very long before he was in South America as a missionary. He left his thug ways behind, and became a new Lennie. When that happened, he immersed in another culture, and he kind of adopted that culture... Not sure how long "Spanish Lennie" lasted after that summer.

The next time I saw anything about him was that photo of him smiling with that crazy grill...

I looked for a girl on many sites, but only the asian brides service could help me. The staff of this site picked up an Asian wife for me in a short time, for which I am very grateful to them.
