I won some old big brothers on ebay and just got them in the mail today. on the back of one of them was that switch backside 5-0 ad and I almost sent an email your way wondering if a Robbie post was possible in the near future. than this shows up. kinda weird.
it's a damn shame that Robbie never had his name printed on the bottom of a board. One of the only times I can think of Carroll/Rickk/Smyth fucking up.
ATM - I wouldn't say Mike, Rick or Sam fucked up. From what I was told, he kinda started getting into party mode a lot and from then on he just kinda liked to chill more than he did skate. So it'd be hard to give someone a board and have them take on the schedule of being a pro skater when all they wanna do is party and chill. I think he was all set to go there but that just happened. He wasn't into it anymore and they couldn't do it. Sucks, but that's how it goes.
JayCee - thanks for that side of the story, I never actually heard that before. All I remember is a slap interview he had in maybe 2006 where he said "I guess Rick and Mike don't want me to go pro", or something to that effect
man... I watched that listen part 100's of times when it first came out. So psyched on those 2 lines at the spot with the bench off the stairs (the Keenan switch crooked grind fs shove Fourstar ad). I was definitely psyched on his skating.
Did he seriously never get a pro board on Girl? Even after Yeah Right?? Wasn't paying that much attention around that time.
I bet he can still destroy most ledges and flatground even if he's not skating daily.
I think he does some web stuff now. He's the webmaster at Asphalt Anthology.
Did he really do anything school wise? From what I understood he was all about leisure and just ran with that. I hope school was part of the equation to leave all that talent.
rob's the business, whether he was partying or the girl dudes were hesitant, i don't think he had the right stuff. those guys got a huge roster, and from a biz stand point i don't see rob moving a lot of product. a sad factor in the man-am game. i love watching his yeah right part.
thanks for the asphalt link, never seen that before. runs super good on my buggy powerbook.
That's the homie right there. DID NOT tie his shoelaces together the other night. Should have...Robbie will beat me up if I say more here, so let's just salute him with a frosty Margi...
ATM - That's just what I heard from my dudes over on that side. There's always 2 sides to every story so his may be different.
He was really good though. No denying that. I think he would've made a pretty good pro good pro. I think being on Girl carries some pretty good weight to it so I think moving product wouldn't have been too much of a problem.
yeah, i don't think mckinley ever turned pro... and as much as i liked his yeah right part, i gotta admit i was a little disappointed in it after the listen slaughterfest he put out prior.
plus, i think if it came down to deciding between beebs, jereme and mckinley to turn pro for girl, post-yeah right... i definitely think they made the right choices back then.
i always heard the grapic design thing as well.
thanks for the link, keith. couldn't remember that site for the life of me.
what's up jrog and jaycee?
skeem, been working on brian emmers... just not very much out there unfortunately. I think I know a way I can do it though.
I think he just didn't want to turn pro for someone other than Girl. But you still have to make a living in this world. And I'm sure he'd prefer the term Leisure Activities over chilling or partying.
Was and am still a fan of the dude. Listen, Yeah Right, Choco tour parts all dope as fuck. Solid Confident style and had something interesting about it too, wheres he originally from? I always wondered why Mulder sniffed that camera strap too haha. Sw 360 flip is sick. Shame he didnt turn pro but he got himself into a bunch of other things including skate dice ha funny things.

yeah tp... can't murder now. eating. haha
looks like there's more on the way too.
atm, had robbie on the backburner for a little while now but got a few requests for him last week and figured i'd go with it.
I thought this dude was the next surefire thing. Just couldn't get over the top or something. his Listen part was super sick.
I always liked "we go through episodes too, like attack of the clones" because I'm a pseudo-nerd. This guy is all about leisure, which is pretty cool.

I did always hear he went to school for graphic design after girl. never quite understood it myself.
