chrome ball incident #402: seeing red
doubleflip torchbearer and nocturnal temper-tantrum kid, kerry getz.
i've had the privilege of seeing kerry skate numerous times and i've never seen him flip out once... which is undoubtedly a good thing since he'd probably kill me for giggling at him.
at the same time though, it is kinda cool to see a pro lose his shit every now and then... if only to show that they are actually human and do in fact give a shit.
kalis & gee present bro cam. nice.

Getz keeps it real. He's been around for a long time, which is great. Not an image guy which is even cooler, just kept it pretty real the whole time.
That bro cam clip is awesome. Dude freaks out harder than anyone I've ever seen, in person or on video. I like the way he skates though. There's that one pic I keep seeing of him fs bs a flat rail while some dude is bangin' a girl doggy style on the fun box.
He also has that Nocturnal thing at the Berrics last week. An indoor park with no heat! lol
ou made my day
I had the pleasure of skating with Kerry and Daewon in Sydney in 2001. One evening we were skating the city and Kerry was attempting a kickflip down a long flight of stairs. After several unsuccessful attempts, Kerry began venting his frustration by demolishing his board, several tiles on the ground, a public bin and so on. I feared us all being arrested for vandalism so I told him to calm himself down and not to do his head in. I was not convincing enough, though after a few words of wisdom from team mate Deawon, Kerry calmed down and left the spot.
Later on it revealled that when Kerry was in 'civil mode' he was actually a really nice guy, just that he took his skateboarding very seriously.
getz is a kook
getz has been holding it down in philly for over a decade. those who can't respect that are straight-up clowns.
yo, that Bro Cam was illllllllll
thanks dude!
I like that guy. His parts are always solid. I remember seeing the Love fountain kickflip and thinking, Damn. For someone with a temper, when he's skateboarding he has a lot of control. I liked in the last Habitat video near the end of his part- switch backside 180 to push, push, push, push to h-u-g-e stair ollie... I thought that should have been his ender.
Just watched Jump Off A Building a few weeks ago and Kerry's part really stood out. He always catches his flips super wide, but somehow it doesn't look wack. I've also really always liked f/s boardslides since it's about as timeless as f/s 5-0s and since his am days Kerry has had a clean looking one.
Sick post.
Great post, great flicks.
Love how Getz has been keeping it down for so long and hasn't yet fallen off or segued into a more desk-job type role at some company. It's nice when the dudes you liked to watch skate when you were younger are still at the top of their game today.
And really, there's a lot of double/triple flip wizardry going on lately, but I remember Getz popping high, clean double flips regularly before they were at all commonplace.
