chrome ball incident #394: criminal minded

East Coast O.G. that's repped NY since day one...

back when that shit was a severe career handicap, not just instant internet messageboard cred.

story goes that dude rejected an offer from j.lee to join the early blind squad back in the day because he was working on becoming an electrician. ouch.

forgot how sick those underworld hip-hop graphics were. pangstarr, cypress hall, slick rick ibaseta... anybody remember the other ones?

so psyched on Pang!

bs flip over the wall at bb was the best! What trick is that over the wall on the Thrasher cover? I never heard that Blind story. Crazy if it's true!

Naughty by Stranger iirc

Speaking of old video parts... did you see the Karl Watson lost Lovechild part? At the Organika site. So sick.

The House of Pang is in effect!

Super stoked on Pang. Underworld was so, so dope, people don't know. It's weird that it went from Pang and Harold in "Sky Pager" to a huge tourist store in Times Square.

Great point about NY (and the east coast) being totally off the grid and unfashionable until the mid/late 90s. I can't really remember when NY/DC/Boston etc started to get more national and international attention. 96? 97? Then shit got crazy. Dill moving to NY. Muska moving to NY for a summer - egad.

Either way, the guys at Supreme have been laughing all the way to the bank for the better part of a decade.

PS Went skating with my ex's younger brother over Thanksgiving. Was so much fun - those kids were loving me cuz I had some rare video of the dudes I grew up with.

It's strange how Underworld Element became the Element of today. I wonder what Howell thinks when he sees their stuff.

I saw Pang skating in 2000 in the front of Union Square and he was CRUSHING it. That is all.

And I would say the East Coast started coming up early 90s... With Alien moving to Ohio ('90)... Dan Wolfe starting to do videos shortly after (Philly son)... By '95 that shit was in full effect... Tons of kids would be in NY for the summer and back to SF for the winter (Pang, Rick I, Karl, Lee Smith, Huff, Joey A, Stevie, Kalis.... and the list goes on and on)...

CURTIS BLOW aka Curtis Mccann.
Big London head in the early 90s that dropped out of the skate radar. Was on Powell in the Celebrity Tropical Fish days then moved to Underworld Element. Seem to recall reading an interview with Pang where he mentioned staying with Curtis in London and skating South Bank.
Great article as ever.
