chrome ball incident #384: woof!

I wish I wouldn't have wasted so much time in my early teens trying to learn every single fucking trick and instead just focused on making the fun ones look better.

the answer was right in front of me... such is youth, I guess.

figured I'd let the Tempster lead us into what's looking to be quite the holiday week for your friend and humble narrator. on a personal note, mr. chops is to become uncle chops any day now and i'm pretty stoked.

the chrome ball incident will return monday, november 30th.

thanks everyone.

UPDATE: thanks Ricky.

hats off to the tempster. his kickflip over the wooden palette at the beginning of his toy machine live part is my favorite kickflip ever film.

that 51 alarm fire is funny. Harold's, A. Roy, Ed T., and Jerry Fisher are a couple standouts. Ed is great...

So classic.

That Spitfire heads ad is great. I've been meaning to track it down for a while now.

Congrats.

Chops,
Great post! I love those old New Deal ads. I think it's amazing that after all these years Ed still makes skateboarding interesting. I remember seeing or reading an interview recently where Ed said that he was embarrassed by that Thrasher Cover. Apparently the Photographer really wanted to shoot a Sunset photo for a cover and didn't care what trick Ed did. The Tempster felt he could have done a harder trick.

The 51 Alarm ad is classic!

Congrats on becoming an Uncle. You are going to be one kick ass Uncle! Hell, I wish you were my Uncle.

Enjoy your break,
Bif

P.S. November 28th. is my 26th. Birthday. When you come back on Dec. 1st. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind doing a post on pre-1998 Birdhouse or 1-0-1. It would mean a lot.

One of the first demos I went to was for Circle A skateboards. It was supposed to be Bob Schmelzer, but he wasn't there. Instead, it was some unknown guy named Ed Templeton. The demo was at a shopping mall, and the announcer called him "Straight A Eddie".

about 12 years ago, at the old HB skatepark; i tried feeble the flat bar & shot out my board. straight into Ed's ankle; who was standing by the wall. he had just gotten there & hobbled off. I'm sure his day was done. Sorry Ed. you rock though man & you've been doing it for a long time. i wish i still had this new deal stained glass t shirt from back in the day. that thing was sick.

WOAH! Dude, that 51 alarm fire ad, when I was a teenager and I had my entire room wallpapere, like literally ad to ad the entire walls covered I had that 51 alarm fire ad. And I think about it ALL the time and was always wondering if I would see it again. This is why websites like this are awesome. The fucked up looking Harold Hunter is hilarious.

I also had that "You should buy Toy Machine you goddamn hippie" on my wall.
