chrome ball incident #166: mr sunshine

quick little update spotlighting the irie vibes of one Matt Rodriguez.

armed with the loosest trucks in the game, you gotta see dude skate in person to fully grasp how ill this cat truly is.

pfft. No Chapter 7 ads or video clips. What is chrome ball coming too?

switch ollie the gonz. Never saw that before. Pretty sick.

Never saw that i-path loose truck thing either. That is fucked up! I skated with a dude back in the early 90's who had super loose trucks... not quite that loose but the loosest I've seen in person. Pretty damn crazy.

haha, the elephant in the room. you know i actually came across that chapter 7 ad with him in it and came dangerously close to including it... but for real, just the thought of mcgill is like kryptonite.

i've been thinking of doing a post with ads of popular skaters when they skated for weird little companies before moving to greener pastures... so we might just see it yet.

It will be a post full of video grabs, flip tricks 1" off the ground, slide or grind 2" while kitted out as a goofy boy. Probably a lot of Powell and Acme ads.

This guy should be a millionaire. Most underrated skater ever.

My first question for Chris Pastras and Jason Lee

"What was that song that Matt skated to in A Visual Sound."

"Um we think it was a Tommy Guerrero song that was specially made for the video."

My old buddy Matt. I actually wrote his Check Out for Transworld however many years ago. Had to be sometime in the early 90's. When Matt and I used to hang out, he wasn't even riding for anyone at the time. I remember asking Greg Carroll (who was the team manager at the time for Venture) what was up with Matt getting on Venture. I think he smiled and said something that I can't remember. Obviously his sponsorship situation didn't turn out too bad. I think I taught Matt how to do hard flips. Don't quote me on that though!
