chrome ball incident #341: pencil sharpener

San Jose's finest. The legendary Steve Caballero.

so stoked on this...

never found myself actually rooting for someone before on a First Try Friday.

and while we're at it, this was just unbelievable. the berrics killed it this weekend.

I thought of Cab as the anti-Vallely. Through the years, he just did his thing. I know some people like Vallely, but I can respect someone who quietly does something they enjoy... as opposed to making public declarations- "I am a skateboarder, I'm proud to be a skateboarder, buy my video where I talk about being a skateboarder, and then buy my video where I fight people"... etc. Not to insult anyone's hero, I know Vallely has his fans, but I like that Cab was sick... and just left it at that.
Cole vs. Busenitz is no joke.

Had his "Skateboarder" (or was it "Action Now") Centerfold of him doing the Caballerial in my high school locker. Stevie is and always will be my favorite skater. Class act 100%, and one of history's greatest shredders!

And yeah--that Battle at the Berrics was in Koston's words "FUCKIN'EPIC!"---They should just end the contest right there.

I could not believe what I was seeing with that BATB match. I literally yelled out loud multiple times during that match. Dennis was so amazing. Cole is taking the whole thing.

That boned indy with the full graphic in the frame is so good.

Busenitz surprised me for sure! Dude is amazing. Serious pop, mad speed, definitely consist with a serious bag of tricks.

Keith: that is *not* an indy! That is a frontside air!

Yup, I as well yelled out loud when Busenitz missed that last trick and it was over. Is Busenitz SOTY '09 or what?

cab's humble approach is definitely a positive. always is.

about battle at the berrics, i always get stoked whenever a Real pro is featured because the posse is always there. so cool that mic-e and jim make such an effort to show up at those things alongside a bunch of heads.

and that battle truly was epic. i don't really mind the in flux of ams that i hear a lot of people complaining about with batb2 but one thing that i do wish would be them sticking to a saturday and sunday morning slot. its always so nice to wake up quasi-hungover and enjoying a nice bowl of cereal while watching that shit go down.

6 of one = half a dozen of another?

Old School Sammy said...

Keith---"6 of one, half dozen of another?"

Hardly. You'd know the difference if you ever skated a pool or a half pipe--or ANY trannny for that matter-- and accomplished both tricks---they are as different as night and day.

Keith said...

ok tranny rippers... school me on the difference. The last time I grabbed my board while doing an air was probably 91. Then all the jump ramps in the neighbourhood disappeared and I started to hit the streets and learn flip tricks and skate curbs and ledges.

He's grabbing indy, he's going over the hip front side. What else?

JayCee said...

Keith: You grab your board on the same side both ways, but the difference is that on if you're going FS on something (hip, bank, ramp) it's a FS air/FS grab. If you're going backside, then it's an Indy Air.

To shorten what JayCee said, there's no such thing as Indy Frontside anything.

word... 'indy air' is grabing frontside and turning backside... and then there's the opposite, a 'lean air', where you grab backside and turn frontside. saying frontside indy is kinda like saying fakie nollie.
