chrome ball incident #104: milk

j lee cowfarts interview from 1990... before video days, let alone hollywood. back when he was more mutton chops than mustache.

not sure what i'm sweating more: that white killing for gold tee, those lo-top protoypes or that classic grinch board...

If I had my time over I would've voted for J Lee for post 100. Damn

It is so refreshing to see a a whole page of multiple photo sequences. This is right before all the edges of the mags became littered with the little video grab sequences. Granted they were nice for filling in the cracks on your wall between the full page pics but there is just the satisfaction you get from knowing someone did the trick in a reasonable amount of tries. No one was wasting roll upon roll of film just to get a trick. There was a very refreshing resurge of the photo sequence in the mid 90's. But now I look at "9 frames per second" and just am not impressed in the same way. I mean how many photo sequences fit on the 8gb sdhc card anyways. OOh maybe he did it in a million tries. sweet.

Yeah those prototypes were sick, remember them in the black silver/red colorway? I would rock those today. Has anyone seen a pic of them recently? They were all over hokus-pokus.

I remember those, if anyone can post a pic of those prototypes in any of the color schemes you would be a god, I bet airwalk could almost make a comeback if they re-released those prototypes, the 540's and the enigma series, those were sick too!

nice. When that issue came out, I was so stoked. This interview, along with TWS's Hensley interview, were two that really stood out for me during high school.

Those prototypes were so freaking hard out of the box. Never liked them. The Enigma's were nice enough though in those days.

I guess I should also add that I think Jason Lee has one of the best one footed ollies from the early 90's. Ron Allen's one footers would be the antithesis.

prototypes straight out the box were the hardest things in the world. those Etnies Natas joints were a close second.

but yeah, if airwalk busted out the enigmas (which they've been rumored to be doing for the last two years) on top of the prototypes and the 540s, that shit would be like triple cherries... jackpot.

i'm sure i got pictures of those lying around here somewhere...

yeah... those Enigmas were good. Never had the high tops but did rock the low ones. Also had a pair of white/gum Jason Lee Airwalks. They are still at my parents' house.

For those prototypes, this dude I knew would take out the insole, rip out a hard piece or cardboard/fiberglass and it softened them up.

high top prototypes.

I think I'll pass.

yeah, the high-top prototypes, especially in that colorway, are kinda suspect (you see the price on those joints!?! no thanks.) but i'd rock those lo-top ones from the interview, no question.

found the mystery enigmas hi-tops up on ebay, too. not sure if i can pull those off (still thinkin' about it) but if i find those tan/green/black enigma joints... i'm in there.

yeah... it's coming back to me. IIRC, high high tops were 720's, high tops were 540's. That's all I can remember. I came across this

THE NEXT SERIES!!! THAT'S WHERE ITS AT!!!

damn, those were my all-time favorite airwalks... and had just about every colorway. i'd totally buy 'em a second time 16 years later too. can't front.

that site is grape bonkers!! excellent find, my man.

wonder if watson knows about this one....

yeah... I was rocking lots of Nexts back in the day. It sure bring back a lot of memories. I remember a lot of my friends chopped down the blue Enigmas. Lots of Sorry's worn in Questionable.

Holly crap high tops were high back in the day.

I don't think Watson was skating this far back. I could totally be wrong though.
