for the older heads out there: the enigmatic and ultrastylish 80's ripper, Lester Kasai.
(special cameo by Mr. Adrian Demain... it's only right).
sadlands local and #2 with the McTwist, dude was huge back in the day... then just vanished into thin air for the next twenty years.
alright party people, more than a few interviews in the works (unfortunately none tomorrow) in addition to a couple other projects I'm stoked on currently slated for the near future. stay tuned.
and make sure to check out Beauty and the Beast 3

Thanks Choppers. This made my day.
Think he invented the benihana, which is actually kind of cool on vert.
Also, in an era of 10 backside airs in a row, he wasn't afraid to go 7 feet out on a perfect frontside tuckknee.
Awesome post---and Lester's STILL shredding it!
stoked on the 80's posts! fuck... i used to have almost every tws and thrasher from early 86' on and sometime in high school around 91-92'ish i tossed them all thinking 'aah... i'll never look at these anymore'. ha! it's great to relive the memories and look at all these old pages with a current perspective. thanks a lot
Haven't seen one of those '80s Gotcha! stickers in a looooong-ass time (on Lester's board on photo #7), brought back memories. I also remembering wearing a Lester Kasai T-shirt to my parents' Korean church one day, and my mom was like "Don't wear that shirt to church next time, people will be offended," because of the Japanese crest on the back (older generation Koreans have beef against Japan because they colonized Korea from 1905-1945). Excuse the history lesson, but that tripped me out to see Lester's ad explaining the symbol. Great job Chrome Ball.
i had no idea he was second on the 540. cool stuff.
oh and one of my favorite things about the old school vert photos is seeing other pros on the other deck. cab & lee ralph in the background on one of them. can't miss those dudes!
Coat of arms story is pretty interesting. Seems kinda weird to combine a Japanese family coat of arms and an Egyptian symbol. Definitely a cool graphic over the years. I didn't see many of those boards back in the day. Same for the Adrian Demain. Maybe 1 or 2 in the late 80's.
The ad where he's cut off at the top is one of my all time favorites. Lester also does proper Units.
