LANCE IS THE BEST!!! (Lance and Cab came up with that indy hanger shape. They started using it with the Indy Stage V) Lance tought me to have fun skateboarding through the Powell Peralta videos!
short of that last ad, i had all those on my wall when i was a kid. i must have judo kicked ten thousand times off my launch ramp thinking i looked just like lance.
When you say the guy's name, there's really nothing more to say. Pioneer, ambassador, legend---all totally applicable words for the guy. But the best part is he never pandered, sacrificed fun, or made himself look foolish in any way all those years.
I remember one time I was sitting down with Lance and Ray Barbee and I think maybe Willy Santos. It was at EMB and they were in town for a contest. I remember someone was wearing the Mountain Edition Vans and they had a lot of leather on them and were kinda bulky. They had just come out and I don't think anyone outside of people that skated/worked for Vans had a pair. We were talking about the shoes and all of a sudden Lance says "Baseball Mitt?". I guess maybe you had to be there, but that was funny as hell to me and I just remember thinking, damn, that's probably what it was like to hang out with Lance all the time. That was my little Bones Brigade moment. Just laughing, hanging out and having a good time. He always made skating look so much fun and how can you not be stoked on him still killin' it today. Style for miles...

Indy's in that first pic? If so, hanger looks the same as they do today. Classic shape.
Dude is definitely a legend.
Cross Bones ad- best grip tape art ever.
It's crazy think there was a time when wheels weren't reversible.
An actual ad advertising that they are offering a reversible wheel. Bananas.
The greatest of all time. No one is better.
Definately an Aussie connection there.
always seemed like the nicest dude ever.

iirc, the stage V was the first Indy's with the hanger shaped like a V?
I'm still riding a set of stage VII's! I just saw that the stage IX's and X's only have 4 holes on the baseplate.
