Good stuff
McNatt and Bertino.
his evol video part was sick.
yeah phil, figured I'd get into adam's evol period in a later post, probably when i post up his ninja interview.
first, let me say that your blog is incredible and I've read it full through at least ten times.
secondly, as one who didn't skate during the era, it amazes me how nobody talks about adam mcnatt. i know i'm only going by his video parts, but it seems like he could do pretty much anything on street. celebraty tropical fish was so technically advanced for 1991, based on other videos i've seen. and that still life part looked like it was right at the forefront of that "welcome to hell" type of skating that was emerging. and i had never heard of him before watching falling down.
final point: how stacked did that celebraty street team appear to be? mcnatt, curtis mccann, senn, eric ricks, frazier, and of course pat brennan. that's quite a nucleus.
yo good looks on this post, I was just watching snuff last night and was thinking how underrated his part is in that video. Dude had skills.
adam mcnatt one of my favorites..
one of the best tws interviews of all time..post it soon...lol..
good stuff chops...
the jackal thanks for throwing my name in there...lol..
crazy!
Remember that first Powell video he was in? I think 8? He was tiny and skated a coping block in his drive way for half his video part.
He definitely did some crazy skating in his time. Definitely doing his own thing.
That Alva ad is sick!
eric ricks posting up!?!?!
all the way through is a pretty long haul, jackal. thanks.
i think the lack of attention adam gets these days is somewhat attributed, in part, to a few different factors: being overshadowed by some of his fellow 101 teamriders, having some pretty embarassing sponsors later on in his career (from 101 to webb trucks is just harsh) and him just being kinda nutty towards the end of his career and pissing off more than a few heavyhitters at the time.
but you're right, the tropical fish-era team was criminally underrated. you even forgot colin mckay on your list. thats a sick squad and much more focused (smaller) than the team had been in quite some time. i think there was just such a backlash against powell in the rocco-era... if that company wouldn't been called "powell" at the time, it would've been a completely different story. i remember everyone being stoked on the riders (mr ricks included), just not the company.
george battling rocco was just such a bad move.
and this is where eric ricks tells me how full of shit i am. thanks for the support, holmes. stoked. any requests, let me know... and yeah, the interview will be up in the next few weeks.
hahahahh..lmao....
chops you are right on the money with the fued between rocco and powell...the team definitely felt the backlash..well at least i know i did personally...lol..
im sure thats what led to the demise of the team back then...
thats right benson...im posting..lol...
what can i say??? i became i fan not to long ago...
keep up the good work chops....
Does anyone remember when McNatt took shots @ Jamie Thomas and Muska in his Transworld interview? Was that the decisive end of his career? I mean I def. remember him doing the 50-50 nollie-flip-out on that homemade rail in 411, but daaaaaaaaaaaag dude dropped off the face of the earth.
sorry 4 the absence, CHOPS, been busy @ the job !!!
i got a question, eric. i remember a rumor at one point about a possible defection of yours to the world camp... around the time your interview with mike santarossa in big brother came out. any truth to that? always wondered about that one. gotta admit, that would've been sick.
thanks again for stopping by, holmes.
and what's up k? been wonderin' where you've been. yeah, from what i remember the beef between mcnatt and those dudes had to do with the curved "helter skelter" rail... first time i ever recall ABD's coming into play. dont ever remember "same trick, same spot"'s ever really being that big of a deal before that one. gonna post that interview soon enough.
chops
long story short yes i was supposed to ride for prime..
yeah that would of been super cool...at the time i lived about 5 minutes from the world park and the main offices...so it seemed like a no brainer...lol...
any more questions???? feel free to ask...lol...
you on prime would've definitely been pretty ill, eric. thanks man.
Jesus, great work guys. This has given me goosebumps. I love any talk of 101 and McNatt was always a secret favourite of mine. FAKIE mungo push?!??? Who the shit could get away with that?
Just wanted to add my 2pence (English, sorry). Can't wait for that interview. Word.
