I read the Gonz / Natas / Mike Vallely / Neil Blender / Jason Lee story... that's ridiculous.

I've always wanted to read this article, thanks a bunch for posting it. Rad way to end my birthday.

That Gonz piece is great. Last year Vallely spoke in a Transworld interview about the time when he and Natas skated with "the new kids" and were blown away by what they were doing, and how it was one of the first signs that a new brand of street skating was there. He particularly mentioned that Natas took it pretty hard. I can see how. Back during Ed's rise, I didn't like him much, mainly because he was setting the bar so high out of my reach. I can imagine it was really hard for the top pro's of the time to accept.

As the years have passed, I have come to really admire and like Ed. Its cool reading his perspective on that session.

Never seen that article before.

Didn't remember 1990 being such an epic year for Ed. Turn pro, four first place pro contest finishes, pro spotlight. Pretty sick for a rookie. Dude was definitely on some cutting edge shit back then.

That Gonz story is amazing... I couldn't even image having that happen as a 16 year old kid. I would have felt the same as him skating with the best skaters in the next town over.

That's an issue of Thrasher that will NEVER leave the house! (Not as if any ever have--I have most of them)

Cheers man, I've trying to track down that issue for a while.
Loving the interviews too.

I've always loved Ed Templeton, but never read this interview. Ed deserves the utmost respect for speaking frankly about everything that went down over the years. I was a little surprised at how open he was, and at the same time inspired--like I was by his skating back in the day

This is definitely one of the best skateboarder interviews I've ever read in my 20+ years riding. Made my week, and reminded me why I took such as interest to Ed back in the day when he was coming up. I had the Thrasher inset poster of him nosegrinding the kinked rail at Huntington High on my wall. Still amazing.
