chrome ball incident #818: protective eyewear

There was a time when this guy was so overexposed that I never thought I'd see the day where he could be missed... weird how shit works out. The Muska.

And in other news.... this and this!

Have a good weekend.

  1. Shorty's boards were soft, and Muska's music was rubbish. Real talk.

  2. Muska's so fun! Love this dude! And he could skate whatever he wanted. I remember seeing that front tail photo and being mesmerized by how he seemed to be dwarfed by the ledge.

  3. Everything about The Muska screams "America." Rags to riches, riches to whatever, he's still doing it now. How many skaters have achieved "The" status? He's one of two.

I'd love to read a discussion between Mark and Chad and vice versa; it'd be some Paris Review-type action.

  4. In the Ill's add on the upper left corner there's the logo of the biggest italian oil company "AGIP".
    That's fun!

  5. Never a fan of their boards, or most of their gear for that matter, but you cannot deny the impact Shorty's had on the masses in the mid-to-late nineties.

Chad killed it. Made some questionable decisions (Muskabeats?), but always seemed like a really nice, positive dude who was hyped to skate. Love him or hate him, he did his own thing and brought his own style to the game. Weird to see him as a celeb now.

  6. He was like the pre-Biebel. Hell of a skater though. You have to remember: these kids are like 20-24 when they hit it big. Think about how much you changed around then as well. I'm not surprised when people kook out or anything. He definitely made a hell of an impact though!

  7. International Lunatic League? Never heard of that!

    Diakka ads really were corny.

Stoked in the Gino DQM clip... such a distinct nice style.

  8. Fuck... That consolidated ad was FUNNY! Haha. I always respected chad muska though. I've met him a few times and he was always super nice. Can't deny the balls to do crazy shit on that dude either and he definitely has skills. there's some corny phases that he went through but shit dude.... I'd hate for my life to have been in the spotlight, especially through my teens and early 20's.

  10. I think Shorty's Rosa had more of an impact on me than Muska. Muska was pretty sick, I remember skating against him in am contest. I give him mad props for chasing after the hip hop dream. The only thing left for him is for Windser James to slap the hell out of him now that he is grown (watch Free Lunch) and then he could retire.
