This dude was getting career retrospectives before I even started skating.
Cab has truly seen and done it all.
Question: am I the only one that gets all warm and gooey everytime I see a photo of Wallows? I certainly hope not.
Regardless, I used to lose my mind looking at that Upland bs nosepick. Classic shit.
And yes, that's him rocking a sweater on the cover of the first issue of Transworld. Not bad. (Thanks Skin)
the method over the loading dock is fuckn ridiculous. i hurt my neck one summer trying to look like him when i walked... yup, i was that dorky. can't wait to see this movie.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!!
ReplyDeleteyeah that cross bone over the loading dock would still be rad if it came out today. maybe even radder than it was back then...
ReplyDeleteWallows every time. Not being all rose-tinted, but you look at those photos and think A: Cab has done everything you've ever wanted to do yourself - and B: As great as it is - skateboarding will never be that good again.
ReplyDeleteCab's contributions toward good skateboarding are immeasurable and it's not like he pushes the religious aspect, but he had a Transworld interview eight or nine years ago where he talked about becoming a born again Christian. This is fine and if it works for him, all the best. However, in the interview he made a number of statements about how other religions are lame. That interview never sat right with me and I kind of lost a bunch of respect for him.
ReplyDeleteeTNS taco neck syndrom... love cab
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I had to look like this guy...... Got my mom to make some yellow plaid shorts, I scored a Batman T shirt for my birthday, I got some suspenders.... didn't do the sun-in thing though...
ReplyDeleteI love the Quote from Salman Agah
"He's been pro for the same company longer than I've been skateboarding!"
Keep rolling Cab!
yeah... that loading dock method is ridiculous. Looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI like the fs air Wallows shot too. A friend of mine skated there last year and he had to buy some locals a 12 of beer to take him there. He's a typical street rat and skated Wallows with 50mm wheels. He said it was tough to skate and was rough as hell lol
bs nose pick... how scary would it be to be up there stalled like that!?
Caballero really is one of the most amazing skaters ever. In my mind, he's been the most adaptable skater in the history. Close could be said for Danny Way but Cab was forced to adapt in such shitty ways(look at the 90's and early 2000's) and he still tore it up. Problem is by the 90's kids wanted fresh meat and Cab fell out of coverage. Hell, I remember him doing just as gnarly stuff as anyone but not getting coverage. Maybe Powell wasn't giving the mags as much money at the time. I don't know.
ReplyDeleteMy first real board was a mini Cab in 84. My brother stole it and gave it to someone.
So psyched his favorite was dragon with bats, my first board! Albeit with Trackers, but hell yeah!
ReplyDeleteCAB is the best skater of all time!

More Wallows the better brah!
ReplyDeleteyeah, i vote for an all wallows post here sooner or later.
ReplyDeletecab's a hero of mine. which is weird because i've got hawk's size and stature, i'm as hardcore atheist as they come, and my shit was stinkbug at best. still, he's down for life, and he's trying to be positive in the best ways he knows how.
thanks stevie!
