What was the date on the front 5? So rad. I recall an interview where he said he really only had the trick down for one day at Del Mar, and years later couldn't do them with any consistency. I think there's video in public domain. anyone know other dudes from thd 80s that could do them? Lester I think.
obviously a legend... and that front 5 was sick!!! but... how rediculous was the lapper??? hahaha. imagine hewitt or navarette with one of those! i'm not dissin' the birdman... he's way cooler than i'll ever be. i'm just pointing out how silly some of those 80's era plastic accessories were. i remember having a nosebone, rail, tailblock, lapper, and copers at one point... that's fucked up! kids today should count themselves lucky that skate shop owners don't try to talk their parents into buying that crap in this day and age!
It's crazy to be reminded of how much gear we needed back then. Our boards must have weighed 20 pounds and then you had a duffel bag full of pads on top of that.
But regardless, I'm with bugs and would give anything to relive those days.
i think i would like to relive just one day in that era to recover the innocent stoke that is so elusive these days. as far as tony goes... i don't care if DP spat on him i always loved his lanky style and consistency. i might of told my friends i was rootin fer hosoi back in the day but inside i always wanted tony to get first.
timeless... and yet, what were we thinking?
ReplyDeletewhat i would not give for a chance to relive the Bones Brigade era...
