chrome ball incident #910: stedy
"It
was much more about the love of skateboarding and why I ride a skateboard. It’s
those moments where you’re hanging out with your friends skating and you just
feel like everything is right with the world. But all you’re doing is cruising
down the street. It doesn’t matter. You’re with your buddies and everything is
fucking great. That's how I wanted Forties to be perceived… as something that is much more about
the reason for skating than actual tricks. But it was such a different approach
at the time."
some of Forties' early finest.
So rad. And so much Mic-E!
ReplyDeleteI loved this company! we need more like this in 2013.
ReplyDeleteSpot on. Ethan and Julien. Whose quote is it ? Shouldn't care - Don't care. Everything is all right with the world.

Unrelated, but cool: Chris Nieratko on Jeff Grosso and corporate involvement in skateboarding. Bonus video at the end about his drug use.

Amazing non-skate ads.
ReplyDeleteGreat Ads and awesome photography. Anyone know who was responsible for the art direction and design for this company? Tommy Guerrero? Micke Reyes?
ReplyDeleteThe mouse trap ad is so perfect. Worked then, today and in 20 years. Forever Forties.
ReplyDeleteNever seen any of that. So fucking sick, i wish there still was stuff like this in the mags...this is best skate site ever for sure. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI believe 40s was mostly TG's baby. So incredible.
ReplyDeleteLooking back on it, it seems like 40s, similar to Stereo, were catering to a smaller and generally older audience.
ReplyDeleteThis company was soooooo rad. I still have a plaid shirt I wear on the regular. Anyone remember the Forties subsidiary Corazon? I think I had a pair of their jeans in '98 or so.
ReplyDeleteThe art direction was so ahead of its time. Best non skate ads.
