A Rodney Torres-heavy selection of flicks showcasing an East Coast landmark, New York's Flushing Meadows.
Last scan stolen from the
Snackman.
And salutations to
DLX as always for the links.
Update: Big thanks to Chrome Baller Adam Costa for sending in this great photo he took of his buddy Eric three-flipping the Flushing grate. Very cool.
thank you chops, just thank you!
ReplyDeleteoh, and I love all those pics, for real, but I think the one I like most is Liversedge switch bs flip.
and how is the dude makin the flip bs tail big spin? which is also sick btw.
ReplyDeleteI meant "who" and not "how"...
ReplyDeleteAny excuse to post some Gino. The second sequence is the reason I wanted to learn switch pop shuv-its. Had it on my wall. The first sequence is the reason why I don't want to learn 360 shuv-its, because no one can ever make it look that good again.
ReplyDelete@SameOne: the kickflip back-tail is Brian Anderson.
ReplyDeleteMan, I always loved that bs noseblunt shot. It's just too cool, ya know.
I was noticin Danny Supa's shoes in that first shot & thinkin about how Adidas, Converse, and Nike all took two (or more, maybe) to get into skateboarding. Unrelated, I know.
So many good flicks on this one. Hard to pick a favorite, but the Puleo b/s 180 switch f/s crook to regs (or whatever you might call it) is one of my all time favorites. But then again, this whole post is riddled with gems.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Chops. So sick.
Rodney Torres...so underrated.
ReplyDeleteBA slaying.
ReplyDeleteThat BA sequence is sick. How he can rifle off a trick like that on such a high short ledge is beyond me!
ReplyDeleteStoked on the Gideon sequence as well. Got any more of him?
Another fantastic post, Chops!
im from jamaica queens, where they beat ya up and steal ya jeans
ReplyDeleteI echo E.Y.'s sentiment. Gideon Choi was so clean and so underrated.
ReplyDeleteThat place always looks good in photo and video.
ReplyDeletePuleo shot is amazing. And BA and Stevie on the big block from flat is crazy. So many good ones in this post.
That Gino sequence single handedly brought 360 shoves back from the dead.
The catch on Gino Shuv 360 is amazing. That front foot just waiting.
ReplyDeleteI remember a sequence in an old Transworld of (I think) Rodney Torres doing a tre flip crooks on the step up ledge, I would love to see that again
ReplyDeleteSwitch shuv, kfbstail, nollie crook, switch back tail, bs180 swfront crook, seriously all so good..
ReplyDeleteWhat I was shocked at when I finally made it to the spot as a young kid was that the ground really isn't THAT good. It's got ridges along it. In video and photos it just looks like the most perfect ground. It's far from bad ground, but you just picture it in your head as amazing.
The ground leading up TO the big six and manual pads is polished granite with designs in it that really is amazing though. Slightly down hill, but amazingly smooth and perfectly grippy if you're skating flat or the manny pads.

Stevie's back tail is so dramatic looking in that sequence. Anyone remember his lines there in the FTC3 video?
ReplyDeleteJames Reres killed the grate ledge. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PuKuj4MGdg
ReplyDeletefirst and second to last trick
It such a good looking landmark spot.
