"Black Mass at Pizzey Park. Full moon at the gnarliest park in the world, they took all the wood from the surrounding area and put it into the bowl. It was lit on fire with
Merciful Fate blasting out the box.
Coco went to work and started dropping in through the black smoke and flames. You couldn't see him until he came out the other side."
Thanks to the Skateboard Mag and

Epic Bay dude... Not really talked about much anymore. Ripper.
ReplyDeleteAll skateboarding photos are exceptional and amazing. Seeming those moments are very exciting. These nothing but exciting !
ReplyDeleteCoco FSU! That indy air was one of my favorite pictures back then. Guy was too early for Anti Hero. He would have been perfect for that team. At a time when very few were getting gnar gnar, Coco had that on lockdown with Cardiel.
ReplyDeleteDude was the real deal, should have a Krooked Gest board IMO.
ReplyDeleteamazing!
ReplyDeletereally diggin the spitfire add on that german half pipe
Out of all skate stories Coco's seems the most tragic to me. I wish he would surface and set whatever story there is to tell straight.
ReplyDeleteThat China Banks photo is awesome. I've always known that it's super tight and hard to skate but this pic really shows it. I'm not even sure what trick it is. Feet look like it's a nollie bs heel or a bs heel.
ReplyDeleteNeighbor of the Beast haha
Wonder where he is now?
I was watching a video where Phelps was discussing how bad he turned out. His mother passed in the 1993 era....I believe and he went into a downward spiral. He was a ripper for sure.
ReplyDeleteDoes the nose of your board scrape when you go up the china banks?
ReplyDeleteOne of the unsung heros for sure. Thanks for this post Chops. He really deserves it.
ReplyDeleteFond memories of skating the old Brooklyn Bridge Banks with Coco and the Shut crew.
Man, I wish this dude was back on the scene...
ReplyDeleteHe was a metalhead WAYYYY before it got all super trendy.
