#744: music is a world within itself

Always dug this dude's steez on and off his board, h-bomb 43

They don't make pros like this anymore.

Does skateboarding still attract kids like Andy? I hope so.

Special thanks to my man 3D Matt... who single-handedly insured several Boston-related posts to come by sending me a copy of the old 3D Innovations video on DVD. Super good.

...and big up to Kevin and the crew over at Skately. com. Keep up the fine work, gentlemen! An amazing resource.

  1. What a heavy hitter crew that first U.E team was mang! props to Howell for his skills.

  2. Awesome post Chops. Always been a Howell fan. I remember riding the "To catch a thief" slick in 92 or 93 as well as several of his New Deal decks. Pity Underworld Element became what it is today (my opinion anyway).

  3. Who's the guy under Andy in that black and white ad? My memory isn't what it used to be.

  5. I really don't think skateboarding makes dudes like this anymore, and it's a goddamn shame. These dudes are why I started skating.

That spine trick and that railslide on that rail are so fucking dope. Sick post, Chops. Gonna go draw on some griptape now.

  6. My first idol. I cannot tell you how much I dig this post Chops! You always come through with quality posts and that's why the CBI is my first stop everyday.

His second Schmitt board(Flaming 8-ball)was the best set-up I have ever skated. I hate that they are so f-ing expensive now whenever one pops up.

  7. Kinda interesting looking back that his 2nd pro model on Schmitt Stix with the 8-ball and the graffiti style graphic seems like the kick off point for New Deal. I like his skating and art.

Underworld Element was so amazing at its inception. It's pretty incredible how different it has become.

  8. Of course skateboarding doesn't make guys like this anymore! Every RETARD and jock in the world can buy a skateboard and look like a skater now thanks to zumiez, ccs, and any other mall chain skate shop!

I would say in the next couple of years locally owned skate ran skate shops will be a thing of the past!

Next time you see Rob Dyrdek, Tony Hawk and Bam, give them a big hug and thank them for bringing skateboarding to the masses and ruining it the way they have!

  10. Stoked to hear that a 3D post might happen. I'm subscribed to mikes YouTube page, good stuff during that era. As a young kid at that time I saw a 3D demo. Are they a company again?

  11. Trying my best to find the footage of that same rail in the board slide sequence that I beleive was Omar Hassan doing the same trick 10 years later. I believe it was in a commercial in a 411. Help anyone?

  12. Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! Some of these I havent seen in so many years. And these comments! I'm so honored to have had the opportunity to be a part of skateboarding culture. I'm dumbfounded at the comments, it means so much to me! Thank you, thank you. I'm not a religious guy but the word "blessed" comes to mind when I see this and look back at all my team and crew from those days. I'm just as inspired today by them as I was then. CBI, you rule, and now if you dont mind I'm going to rip some of these images to save forever!!
