ReplyDeleteAn all time fav of mine too - saw him at a demo a few years back and he killed it. He seemed really tall too or maybe I am just short!
ReplyDeleteRick still kills it for sure. He came through Memphis on a demo tour during his last days on Plan B. As is custom, all the riders signed the walls and ceiling of our shop. Next to Rick's signature, he drew a curious little scribble of a girl's restroom sign. Nobody knew what it meant at the time but a few months later, it all became clear.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I forgot Rick was a Gullwing man back in the day. Check the red Pro III's on the FS Disaster pic and the Street Shadows in the Blockhead Ramp Transfer pic. The man had good taste. :)

ReplyDeleteOne of those guys that can do no wrong. He looks so natural on a board, can't say I've ever seen a bad photo of him. A true inspiration in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteThe best thing about Rick is he always looks like he's having a blast. Seems like a child at heart, but still kills it on the business side and on his board.

I liked his first DC pro models. I guess Lakai recently re-released them but I've never seen them anywhere.
The first skater I saw with an all street part. It was adventures in cheese. He made me realize that skating curbs was much more fun than anything else. He just embodies everything positive about skateboarding and just has the illest style. RESPECT. Best businessman/skater and my favorite part in fully flared. Thanks for all the great contributions Rickk!

growing up in vancouver, and starting to skate downtown around 1989, the word that rick was in town would get around... and youd just be dying to see what tricks he was doing, shoes he was wearing, etc. true, there was colin mckay with powell and the skate ranch, but this guy was in like a parallel universe, and a god to those who didnt skate the ramps out in richmond. youd see him and be like, why isnt this guy pro, but so-and-so vert skater is? hes pretty much one of the best ever...
