chrome ball incident #546: releasing hypnotical gases














"I've been at this since I was 11 years old and I love it to this day."

Felt like mixing it up a little with some classic Toy Machine-era Muska, featuring his infamous Big Brother interview from 1995.

My friends would be disappointed if I didn't bring this up... but I actually had the chance to meet Chad over the summer and not only was I surprised at how nice a dude he is (a fact this 15-year-old interview doesn't demonstrate whatsoever), I was also awestruck at just how fast this dude can talk. Pretty amazing actually... but an unfortunate fact that left me standing there a bewildered dick as the Muska's rapidfire barrage of words continued to rocket towards me at warp speed. Unable to decipher Chad's auctioneer-like speak, I could only offer him a blank stare in return. Terrible.

    Chad Muska, one of skateboarding's first superstar's. He was on fire for a couple of year's with the boombox and everybody in Stockholm wanted to be him. A big trendsetter in skateboarding.
    And even though he's no Organized Konfusion when it comes to making beats, he did that album anyway with crazy guest's, props!
    Plus he's alway's on the positive tip for the kid's at demo's never acting whatev's and seem's to be a funny dude also, like on Dill's epicly later'd.

    Always down for some Muska! He seems like he could get a skate session turned up to code red level. His Uno part will always be one of my favorites, skating to the pharcyde, good part in TSA as well.

    Didn't really pay much attention to mags between 94-98... so I missed the un-fresh pre-jersey Muska. Funny to see dudes go through massive image crisis' from regular guy rippers to super bros chillin like a muh fuh.

    Chelsea hotel story is interesting. He sure likes to use the words bitch and faggot a lot. $2000 for a Lexus lol that would be one roughed up car.

    Never really been a fan of Muska. Your story at the NY art show really surprised me. crazy!

    I went back and forth between gaining and losing alot of respect for the Muska in that interview. In the end I think he just comes off as crazy, which is cool in its own way. Excellent read.

    There's an amazing double page ad from this era that should be included in this collection. It has "Welcome To Hell" printed at across the top of a photo of Muska grinding the Pat Duffy kinked rail that ended up in the Shortys vid. In the margin of the ad there's a supposed letter from a parent addressed to ed templeton criticizing him for being a vegetarian amongst other things. It's great if you can find it.

    My friend who lives in LA told me a story around 5 years ago, maybe more. He was skating some schoolyard an Muska pulled in in his Muskalade, and got out, put a big box of various product and shit on the ground, spread his arms wide said "Alright homeys, enjoy it!" and got in a drove away.

    Pretty sick. I also met him in 97 at Slam City Jam and he was really cool and nice.
