chrome ball incident #735: dreams never end

"Does it get any better than this?"

Well on his way, Van truly would've been one of the greats.

RIP

Alright fellas, I hate to do this but due to some unexpected business, regular posts won't resume again until Monday. Sorry about that.

Kinda chaotic right now but there's plenty in the works. Been very busy.

Big up to Skin Phillips, Mark Whiteley, Jason Rothmeyer, Allen Ying, @quartersnacks (working on SAD), and my lady Peel for putting up with me and my shit.

P.S. I broke down and succumbed to the Instagram craze... @chromeball. Pretty fun.

The smithgrind pic where Gonz follows him so close with a feeble is completely nuts. The "Lifestyle" Pics are also super good. You can see how they had fun acting wired.

I wasn't paying attention to skating when this guy was coming up. A lot of great shots and sequences in this one. I like the bs heel. The Gonz quote in the check out is great... "functioning top-notch"

rip

That first tailslide....goddamn. 2 things need to be resurrected from that photo -Van Wastell and those Vans Rowley XL3's. RIP.

Dude was fresh but had some late 90s vibe in his skating. If he was still here he would be going for legend status for sure... Its a pity.

The catch on that BS heel is mental. Rip In Peace.

Only skateboarder I've been truly affected that he passed. Had to go take a long skate in the middle of the night when I found out. Just top notch. Hopefully there is another van post slated somewhere down the line. The bump to bar ollie to 50-50 to deck check the parking block was a great one. Apparently just a really talented good dude from what I've read.

Nice first inaugural post for 2012. I got nothing but love for anything Van. Agree with Sean's response to hearing of Van's passing, a significant loss to the skateboard community.

His snap has that sound that makes me want to go outside and fucking skate. Thanks Chop's! Happy New Year! Keep skating.

I do have a recollection of Van, I remember him from an European Krooked tour in Barcelona in the fall 2004....he was along the Krooked team at a skate shop signing event, probably at Tac Tic...later that very same day he passed me by next to the beach, he was on his skate and he was stretching at the same time, probably after a long skate session at Macba or Universidad, who knows, but you could tell he was tired....first and last time I saw him in person...but when O found out of him passing away I really felt for all the skateboarding community. Kind of the same feeling when I found out about Keennan Milton or Tim Braunch...RIP Legends Never Die! KAYOTO
