chrome ball incident #414: pepper

"Sean Mullendore would come down to Pulaski sometimes and make anyone look silly skating next to him. He should be pro now and paid but he chose a different route..." -Chris Hall

Special thanks to MOC and Nike SB.

as a dc resident for the last 10 years i can safely say skateboarding is still alive and well here. but man these days downtown can be such a hassle. if you ask me, the three S's - schools, suburbs and Southeast (DC). That's where you're gonna find weird and interesting shit.

i once got a $100 ticket for skating at Pulaski. what a huge waste of my tax dollars.

man... growing up in the capital of Canada, a lot of us were psyched on the east coast scene. NYC, Philly, DC. Back in the day, I would only hear stories about Sean Mullendore, rarely saw footage of him. All I ever heard was he was sick as fuck. I only really ever saw footage of him since youtube.

bs tail on the fountain planter is an amazing shot.

I went to DC for a skate trip... must have been 94 or 95... it was hotter than hell there. We only went skating in the evening.

Sick interview at 48 blocks

I love old Capital and Nicotine ads. Those were a couple of companies I would have loved to last. Silverstar too. Capital had such an ill line-up. Igei, Mullendore, Oyola, etc.
All the east coast stuff that's been posted lately has been really really inspiring.

Good looking out, Keith.

Keith, thanks for the link--love that last ad for Nicotine, a really varied and cool roster of guys (I don't use the word "Heads" reminds me of the weed smokers in High School)--seeing Pepe and Bucky on the same roster is awesome, and they must have loved Matt Milligan so much he sorta got two mentions---maybe he was designing the ad?

All of it, but that backtail is woah.

It's Matt Milligan and Matt Willigan, I always got the two mixed up back when. Proper post.

iirc

Milligan = FLA + New Deal

Willigan = DC + ???

I grew up skating just outside of Washington DC in a little town called Waldorf. DC was the first real "city" I went street skating in and I still miss it. I love skating in DC. Sean was one of those dudes that was alway down there and always skating. I dont think I ever saw the dude sit down. He also coined the term "Kick-flipping by noon". It might just be DC lore, but I was told by a few different DC heads that if Sean wasnt warmed up and skating by noon he would bag it for the day. Just didnt have time for slackers that sleep til 3pm (like me). Maybe thats why we never really skated together. Dude is amazing. really nice, and a really really good skateboarder.

He was one of my favourite skaters ,I'm Australian but I used to see him pop the hectik shit on the vids.I think these days skaters should watch and learn how to pop their tricks properly and stop beating off over stiff front legged 360pop shoves and 360flips in games of skate .much respect to mullendore
