chrome ball incident #408: god made dirt

Decided to have a little fun tonight and post one of the 90's more compelling skaters, the mayor James Kelch.

Influential in his own right... dude had personality and charm almost as big as his ollies. Respect.

Big up to DQM and German Nieves.

Tail grab over the fire hydrant, I remember that ad. Looking at the board, I forgot how long ago it was. I never associate him with rails and riser pads.

Backside tail on the big ledge at Embarco. Sick!

"James is the raddest"

Q: Who is DQM and why the 'big up' to him & and German Nieves? Just wondering what the connection is...

UPDATE: Changed the wording around on this one a little as it originally sounded slightly condescending towards James.

Purely unintentional. Apologies and mucho respect to Big Dirt...

what's up, ricks? thanks homie.

keith, yeah that's thrasher. love that wheatfield graphic as well.

JT, no real connection to james. DQM (Dave's Quality Meat) and German are just friends of the site.

"Tail grab over the fire hydrant, I remember that ad."

What a lot of people don't know is that that was actually a one footed nose bonk tail grab.

late 93 popped by embarco one evening to drop off some shoes for a friend. kelch offered me a board for a reasonable price (10 bucks, IIRC). it was neither cracked, jacked or shitty

just wanted to balance out the stories of people getting ripped off

cheers james, you're a gent.

James is one of the most real and genuine people I have ever met, as well as one of (if not) the funniest.

Even when he was at his lowest, James never tried to bullshit me or take advantage. Can't say enough about him. We moved to the city in the hay day of EMB and were taken in by some of the crew, while some remained douche bags.

As for the post above, only a handful of the kids were jackers and full on hoodlums, but that was enough for the rep to grow. Don't get me wrong, James would knock you the F out if you crossed the line, but not just to knock you out.

His part in the Real video is one of my all time favs. Best part was he called me from Ohio on his birthday to tell me he was starting the killing spree... HA.
