chrome ball incident #323: roast fish & cornbread

while the whole irie riddims/rasta vibe was never really my thing, jake rupp was way ahead of the game. dude was one of the first to rock that intentionally-lousy spot steez with crazy pop and anti-gravitational flare.

and big up to chris haslam for killing most of my BATB2 bracket this weekend. i'm trying not to get too wrapped-up in this thing but when mr. cheese and crackers blows it on a backside kickflip, its quite disheartening.

this is super good.

Always loved this dude's style, static part is unbelievable.
too bad he isn't around anymore. He probably should have rode for someone besides element.

I had Haslam taking out Cole in the Finals--he totally DESTROYED my bracket, losing to a little girl in the process--UGH.

Backslide flips are a very hard trick. I think I have been better at them switch for about 15 years honestly.

that bs 180 photo over that rail is really amazing.

jeez... that 3rd pic... his tail is almost up his ass. No idea how anyone can get that contorted on a board.

As for the batb2... everyone's brackets gets screwed up when they put in a sub. They've had at least 3 no shows.

Chops you're killin it in the 2k9 man. I'm loving this! I think Jake Rupp was from Maryland, dude used to come skate w/us @ University of Maryland, College Park. Would give out Pitcrew stickers etc.

great post! he's definitely got that yoga thing going on the backside 180. kenny reeds father. I think last I heard he had fallen upon some bad times...no good

Any chance you remember/have an old anti hero ad:

sean young as the unknown asshole doing a no comply to fakie manual at pier 7? No idea what year it's from...

thanks!

I was never feeling the Jah / ponytail thing, either. But that 50 / 50 at the bottom of the first ad is no joke.

hairfarmer, totally. element was the start of his ending... heard getting dropped from that company started this whole chain reaction of terrible events for him. wasn't he on creation for a minute too? dude was a ripper.

sammy, i didn't have him winning the whole thing (although he wasn't a bad choice)... but i definitely had him getting far.

tp, i feel you, homie. in reality, any trick that would've put him out that WASN'T insane rodney wizard-type shit would've been looked upon with shifty eyebrows.... still think he shoulda had that shit though.

anybody know why so many no-shows this time? injuries? pressure? x-games?

thanks k. yeah, i always heard rupp's holding down some farm in the middle of rural maryland somewhere.

camel, i was thinking the same thing about kenny reed. i vaguely recall the unknown asshole sequence... i actually think it was in a dork tricks article that big brother published. I'll check. hairfarmer probably knows.

thanks fellas

Ah yeah, I double posted that unknown asshole request in both blogs just because I figured at least one out of the two of you would know...
turns out you both did, and I was mistaken about it being an anti hero ad.
A co-worker was telling me about it the other day and it sounded great, figured I'd ask. These blogs have been the best type of skate-school over the past couple years. I think smorales was the first one to link me to policeinformer...

thanks again for all the scans, bro
