chrome ball incident #321: junk collector

i was vibing off T.G.'s remake of this part featured on the 2nd disc of the krooked kronikles last night and thought i'd return the favor.

this interview is actually from the first transworld i ever bought back in the fourth grade (back before i even skated, i just picked up the magazine because I liked the photos and the graphics).

and no, i don't throw anything away.

i think it's definitely testament to that trademark tommy-style that holmes could actually make layback grinds with copers look cool.

anybody remember when tommy won that bay contest in '92 but he felt like he didn't deserve it so he gave it all to Carroll instead... dude is so rad.

buy his albums.

Great interview. He had a few goals and accomplished them. Dude deserves whatever he gets.

The Greg Hunt video on the new Jet Black Crayon cd/dvd is super good.

His flaming sword graphic on a white background that he's skating in that TWS spread was the first pro board I ever had. So stoked on him as a young lad - mroe so these days given his involvement with DLX & his music career. More TG, less MikeV.

My all time favorite skater hands down!!!!
I think i bought about 10 of those flaming boards back in the day...

Back in 94 maybe i was at the Thrasher magazine wharehouse with Greg Carroll when he walked in,i just kinda starred at him in disbelief as Greg introduced me to him...I was speechless..lol..
The only time i ever met him..Great first impression...lmao...

A little side note i do believe he did the song for my part in the Think video...

Needless to say great post...

Jeremy,

When you see Tony G., ask him how that finger he almost snapped off that they showed in an issue of Thrasher way back is doing--lol.

TG! Yabble Dabble.

I liked his style more than Gonz and Natas back in the Animal Chin/Streets on Fire days.

I went through uncountably many TG 49er Real boards.

I had that TWS interview on my wall as a kid, I just came across its remains in my mom's basement the other day while i'm house sitting going through all my old junk that has collected, I sat and studied that Front wall ride more than anything in school.

yeah, i'm always really impressed by all of tommy's musical output and glad to see him succeeding in it. super good music and consistently the best album covers.

thanks jeremy.

i understand where you're coming from ciaran. i was always stoked on tommy but just seem to appreciate him more and more throughout the years. the best style and dude just seems to be the a solid down-to-earth kinda guy who's not afraid to be himself.

thanks ricks. that's hilarious... i met tg and lance both in '90 and completely froze on both of them... but i was just a grom at a demo. lol

thanks fellas.

Old School Sammy,

Will do. I think BK brought up the broken finger once.

Ricks,
I met TG back in the fall. I was stunned and my wife kept telling him what a hero he has been all my life, how my second board was a lime green flaming dagger..just fuckin' on and on. I was so embarrassed. Tommy was all I thought he would be. Just so down to earth. A true inspiration.

Yabble Dabble! :)
