chrome ball incident #289: aces high

long-overdue post featuring one of the best all-around skaters there's ever been. the sole reason why I know all the lyrics to "Detroit Rock City", hard to believe Colin has been putting it down since Public Domain with that trademark super-animated steez.

probably my second favorite vert skater of all-time, dude's the only one who ever left the girl family where i kinda understood why and didn't really fault him for it.

Def one of the best all round skaters - but why did he leave Girl? Is it the old plan b ghosts or what?

I second the grass ollie notion. I remember racking my brain around that one long ago

His first Plan B street footage was pretty crazy seeing as 99% of the footage he had released up to that point was vert. Definitely didn't expect that kind of caliber. Even his vert skating was sick as fuck compared to the last Powell video he was in. Crazy progression.

I saw his MTV Cribs just the other day and he was so stoked on grapples.

Overall, I like Colin and what he's done in terms of putting Vancouver on the skateboard map. I've met him a few times through friends in the strangest instances (went to the hospital with him, partied at his house) but I'm 99% sure he doesn't remember me.

Was he on Girl before or after Seek? Don't remember the timeline. I thought it was Plan B to Girl to Seek to Plan B?

I've always liked Colin's skating, but in the late '90s he kind of turned into, like, vert Dyrdek. But his stuff in those Plan B promos was pretty ridiculous.

His virtual reality part was one of my all time faves. I liked that he ripped the streets too. I had a plan b slick I got new with some city type scene on the graphic, did a few tailslides and saw some colors underneath so I picked up a fork and realized it was like a scratch off ticket. Scraped most of it off and it was all green with a big coca-cola logo that said colin mckay. Shit was crazy and unexpected at the time. Don't know if plan b has the same wood as in the 90's but me and my friends never rode them cause they antually looked thinner and seemed to break quick. Stereo came out around tht time and the stereo decks then were the best decks ever the shapes where sick and the ink they used on the graphics took forever to wear off. Do I win anything for making the longest and most run on post ever? Just noticed....damn
